Giselle is my home bred stunning fawn girl from Dukory Silver Blue (Boo)
Boo came out of retirement to have this litter due to Ava’s inability to have another litter. Boo, you are a champion in my eyes and one of a kind dam that can never be replaced.
The name Giselle originates from the French language and is derived from the word gisil, which means pledge or promise. The name carries with it the connotation for commitment and loyalty.
She is a confident bubbly girl who has been brought up with Cora and Argos’s brindle boys. They being bigger than her, she has steadfastly stood her ground and doesn’t put up with anything they dish out. I just love how easily she adapts.
This little girl has already grabbed my heart and I’m absolutely guttered as at 14 weeks old this girl is now officially retired. Unfortunately she has been diagnosed with a birth defeat call pigeon breast. This is a congenital condition. Pigeon breast in dogs, also known as pectus carinatum, refers to a chest deformity where the breastbone (sternum) protrudes outwards, causing a pointed or “pigeon-like” appearance. It’s a genetic condition, often present at birth, but may not be noticeable until the dog shows symptoms like breathing difficulties or failure to thrive. While it can be hereditary, it’s generally not a cause for major concern unless it compresses the lungs or heart.
Unfortunately for Giselle it is affecting her heart and I am just monitoring it at the present moment and in discussions with my veterinarian team on when and/or if she is a good candidate for an operation to correct this condition.
More information to come over the coming weeks.
